Primat to drive zero car on Rallye International du Valais

News Image Aston Martin Racing Official Factory Driver Harold Primat will drive the zero car on this month’s Rally International du Valais in Switzerland.

The Geneva-based sportscar driver has been invited to take part in the event, which is the final round of the FIA European Rally Championship, by organiser Christian Dubuis

2010 marks the 51st anniversary of the three-day rally (28-30 October) which will tackle 18 special stages covering 275kms of the stunning Swiss countryside in the French-speaking part of the Rhone upper valley.

Primat has been asked to drive the rally-tuned Citroen DS3 zero car which will recce each stage behind the double-zero car of Citroen works driver Philippe Bugalski and ahead of the field of close to 100 entrants. He will be co-driven by deputy event director Daniel Lenglet, and represent both Aston Martin Racing and Crans-Montana, the luxury Ski and Golf resort of which Harold is an ambassador and that will host a stage on this year rally route.

While Primat’s career has focused predominantly on circuit racing, he made his competitive rally debut on the Z-Trofén event in Northern Sweden at the beginning of this year in a Group N Subaru Impreza, and is keen to gain more experience in rallying alongside his sportscar racing commitments.

Harold Primat: “It’s a huge honour for me to be asked to drive the zero car on this prestigious event and to be representing Crans Montana, who have supported me throughout my career. This will be the first time I have experienced any asphalt stages and although I’m not driving the stages competitively, it will still be a great experience for me, and I’m keen to get a feel for the rally with a view to entering it next year. I thoroughly enjoyed my competitive rally debut in Sweden earlier this year and, depending on my sportscar programme, I’ll be looking at doing more events this winter.”

Christian Dubuis, Rallye International du Valais Event Director: “This rally has always attracted drivers from all types of motorsport disciplines. The organising team of the Rallye International du Valais, which is the most important event of its type in Switzerland, is delighted to welcome Harold Primat who, without a doubt, will contribute hugely to the event thanks to his high public profile.”

Xavier Bianco, Marketing Manager Crans-Montana Tourism: “This is a great opportunity for Crans-Montana. To have an ambassador like Harold, who is an exceptional personality, is very important as he appreciates the resort a lot and raises our profile across the world. Harold is a passionate person and his magnificent results with Aston Martin Racing prove that. We are delighted to welcome him back to Crans-Montana during the Rallye International du Valais.”
