My racing days are behind me and I miss it very much, so it gave me great pleasure to see everyone enjoying the third edition of our Primland Driving Experience Powered by Audi, which we have decided to rename the Primland Racing Experience as it has much more to do with racing than just driving! Alongside my good friend Tom Kristensen, we gave guests the opportunity to step into the world of motorsport, as they got behind the wheel of Audi RS’s, Radical Sportscars and go-karts, as well as taking part in a number of other enjoyable activities.
As usual, Tom shared with all our guests his amazing stories of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans a record nine times. From my end, I made sure everyone had the most memorable experience of Primland, our luxury golf resort located in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s all about fun and embracing the outdoors there; the views are spectacular, and you can see deer, wild turkeys and even black bears roving in their natural habitat.
Obviously, the main focus of the event is racing. On day one, we were ferried by helicopter from Primland to the Virginia International Raceway, a traditional and fast circuit of the kind we unfortunately don’t see so often anymore.
Our guests drove all the latest Audi RS models, with the R8 being the star of the show, in a mix of different challenges. After that, they were given a tutorial in racing, driving a mix of different paddle-shift Radical Sportscars.
We finished the day with a fun go-kart race between all of us.
After an enjoyable dinner party, we had our second day, where guests could choose from a variety of activities including our golfing challenge, clay shooting, horse riding, ATVs and more.
Amongst our guests was David Haraldsen of Jetset Magazine, who said: “I had such an amazing time from start to finish. Really enjoyed the entire trip as well as meeting everyone on the team. It was an honour to spend time with Harold and Tom. Definitely an experience I will never forget!”
Both Tom and I were very pleased with how it all went and he said: “The Primland Racing Experience was another great event with new concepts at the great Primland Resort, but also with more cars at the Virginia International Raceway. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was a pleasure working with Harold and his team, as well as entertaining our guests.
I would like to thank all of the VIR and Primland team, who helped our event to run as smoothly as possible. Thanks also must go to Audi for providing a wide variety of their most exciting models and lastly, I would like to thank my good friend and Primland ambassador Tom Kristensen for being such a gentleman and always so friendly to everyone involved.
I hope to see as many of you as possible for our fourth edition in 2017, which we hope will be even better!
